As if parents didnt have enough to worry about with this society. There are problems everywhere from home to school to the community. A kinda new silent killer is overindulgence. Parents want to give their kids everything in life to give them a head start. But what they don't realize is that they are cheating the kids and theirselves, by not teaching them valuable life lessons. Because children are not being taught these life lessons, overindulgence is being considered neglect.
Parents are cheating themselves out of teaching their kids things such as delayed gratification, time and money management, and acceptable social skills. These things are crucial to succeed in life. Wihout these skills children are having many emotions go through there head; such as confusion, anxiety, depression, and worry. These emotions have been known through research to carry into adulthood. Parents need to learn to give children what they need and what is enough, not what they want to give them or too much. Parents in this rich society tend to have trouble understanding what is enough and what is too much. Parents and children are influenced deeply by the affluent society that we live in. Many things such as community, home, and media can affect the process of overindulgence.
